SOUPER BOWL of CARING

SOUPER BOWL of CARING

Sunday, February 5, 2012

Join the Senior High and Middle School Youth Groups in fighting hunger.  Bring a can good, put a donation in the soup pot that day or do both.  The monies raised and food items collected will go to help S.A.S.A. provide for a family or families.

NOTE:  Thirty years ago, Mary Helen McCormick came to a Board of Deacons meeting with a proposal of a project to help those in need in Hastings.  Mary Ann Wagner Shorey and Tim Johnson were appointed to help Mary Helen bring all the churches in town together to talk about forming a community food pantry.  After several positive meetings, The Hastings Food Pantry was formed.  It's first home was in 2 unused classrooms in the basement with Irving Scott overseeing it and processing the orders.

In honor of the churches history in forming this organization, please support the youth of our church on February 5 and help them make their challenge of raising $1000 and 1000 cans of food.

Order of St. Andrew
Gentlemen, do you like talking and visiting with other men? Do you like the friendship, fellowship, and camaraderie of each other’s company? The Order of St. Andrew is the group for you!!

Fourteen men have agreed to be part of this fellowship of men and we have committed to reaching out to other men who:
1. Want to have fellowship with another male friend at least once a month. 2. Want to visit men who are in the hospital, retirement center, assisted living nursing home, receiving home care, or recuperating from an illness or surgery.
3. Want to call on men who have come to worship or one of the programs or ministries of our church who might be interested in membership in First Presbyterian Church.

The Order of St. Andrew will meet for dinner at the church four times a year: March 1, 7:00 p.m. June7, 7:00 p.m. September 6, 7:00 p.m. December 6, 7:00 p.m.

Reorganization and recruitment meeting: Thursday, February 2, 7:00 p.m. This is for those wanting to join the Order of St. Andrew as well as for those who have already signed up.

Each member reports their monthly visits to the heads of the Order, Clyde Sachtleben and Frank Georgiana, or to Rev. Bill. Each quarterly meeting will include an inspirational program and conversation about other men that might enjoy visits and fellowship.
Want to be part of the Order of St. Andrew or enjoy having a monthly visitor? Contact: Clyde Sachtleben, 402-462-9029, Frank Georgiana, 402-463-9646, the church office, 402-462-5147 or Rev. Bill, 402-469-6052.
